Target plans new Broadway store
Target Corp. is planning to tear down its high-volume Broadway store and replace it with a larger two-story, urban-style building that puts parking on one floor and shopping on another.
The demolition of the old store and construction of the new one will take 15 months -- a period during which current employees will be offered positions at other local Targets, officials say.
"This is going to be one of their flagship stores," says City Councilman Rob Fong, who has been working with Target for a year on its plans. "We see it as a huge piece of the revitalization of Broadway."
