Target to remove certain plastics from its stores

Local activists celebrated the announcement this month that retail giant Target is the latest company going PVC-free.
The Center for Health, Environment and Justice announced the decision Nov. 6. Earlier this year, the group organized protests of Target stores because the retailer sold infant bathtubs, children's toys, shower curtains, curling irons, MP3 players and other products made or packaged with polyvinyl chloride, a soft plastic that can contain chemicals linked to reproductive health problems.
